Alright folks, here it is… consecutive entries! I feel good about that even though it is wicked late right now and my eyes are a bit heavy.

I went to see Eagle Eye today… the department I work for sprung for the movie as a reward for a really good quarter. It’s nice to work for people that are able to show their employees a good time. As for the movie, I would like to report that it wasn’t all that bad. It was a solid action flick and was entertaining. It seemed like the movie was an updated version of WarGames albeit not as cool. Yes I think that WarGames was a cool movie… now I’m going to have to talk about that instead of this brand new movie that I have just seen! Yes, the movie that validated all the computer stuff I was into back when I saw it was cool. I’m just going to leave it at that because it’s the same damn geek story every one else tells isn’t it. I definitely don’t see this Eagle Eye movie having the same effect on people. It seems as though the characters are hard to identify with thus severing any personal connection to the audience that may have been made.

Not much else to write about… good night!

Alright folks, I promised myself that I would write something every day and immediately missed the day after making that proclamation. Awesome! With that being said, I can move on to my post.

First up, I really want to play with gOS. It looks like a tight little Linux distro that I might enjoy. A co-worker of mine ended up trying the gOS live cd in an attempt to breathe a little life into his laptop. He found that the laptop took an install of the gOS on the hard drive, something that Windows has been crashing on for a while now (tried multiple install disks as well as a couple hard drives). Seems odd that he could install this operating system and not Windows but such is life with computers at least he now has a laptop that is operable. I dig the widget engine and all that, plus being built on top of Ubuntu doesn't hurt either. Burning image to disk right now.

Man, I have a ton of Linux discs scattered around my computer room... weird, I still keep using Windows primarily. Too many games I guess, that and I have to share my systems and MS makes the comfortable product that people are used to.

I also thought a bit about last nights debate. I want to state that I have found NPR's political twitter stream extremely handy during the debate as well as the race. If only for the fact checking, the feed is totally worth following. Here is the feed! I have to say that my mind is already made up and I know who I will cast my vote for never-the-less I watch and follow the progress of the campaigns. The most troublesome issue for me was John McCain's treatment of Barack Obama's support of a bill, which did not pass, that would allocate $3 million towards a new projector for the Adler planetarium. McCain called it an 'overhead' projector which takes away a substantial amount of the meaning of projector when it comes to a planetarium's projector. We all know what and overhead projector looks like and well all know that there is no way on of those things could display the features of the night sky. In digging a bit deeper one finds that the cost to replace the projector was a lot more that they asked for and the planetarium was also seeking out the rest of the funds to cover the additional cost from private investors.
The big deal about this is that it shows just how anti-science and anti-thought that these people are. Seriously, what's wrong with learning? These are the same people who think people and dinosaurs co-existed! Granted it works for Barney and Fred bur there is no way primitive man could survive!

There is more but I just woke up from being passed out from being tired.

=

I am always coming back to my blog saying that I need to write more often. I find that I just never get around to it, this happens to be a bit painful to my persona as I am the kind of guy that really likes this medium. I ask myself, should I do this every day? Cut out a little time each day to put forth a thought or two about what is going on in life. Then I think to myself, what are you going to write about? The answer is simple now, as I reflect upon it, write whatever! It does not matter what you say or who reads it, it matters that you do it. I put too much thought into what I should be about rather than what I am about, therefore I need to just let this sludge flow forth out onto the screen.

So that´s it... I will write something, daily, no matter how trivial. Just like today´s rant of a post. Sounds good to me.

Originally had this posted from twitter back on the 29<super>th</super> of August

I had a bolt stuck in my tire. At town fair tire to have it repaired. They charge twice as much now than the last time I had it done. #

Powered by Twitter Tools.

While it was minor inconvenience to have taken care of what I wanted to talk about was another sound I started to hear. Before I get to that I need to mention that the reason I knew something like this had happened was due to my hearing a clicking noise while I was driving. I would never have heard that if I didn't roll down the passenger side window. Therein lies the first piece of advice I can give anyone in regard to vehicles; roll down your windows from time to time, you might hear something that isn't quite right.

That was the forward passenger side tire. Alright now for the next thing that happened and happened earlier this week. I started to hear another noise... and determined that it was also from the forward passenger side of my car. This noise was different it was blunter and harder. Turn out that my strut decided that it would dislodge itself from it's housing and in turn would beat against the hood any time I hit a bump. I got that all fixed up for nearly $400, money that should have been happily spent frolicking with glee around new tech toys and junk of that nature. I am glad that the mechanic had it done by 2 o'clock the same afternoon that I dropped it off. I had my car there before the shop even opened. I am also glad that I live in walking distance of the place, no need to find someone to hook you up with a ride.

If I can keep the rule of threes from coming to fruition I'll be pretty happy.

So. This morning was a wash. Woke up at 11:30, which leaves little to no time for anything before work.
I currently have a few projects that I'm working on that l hope to remain focused on. I'm looking to switch Nervous Reflex from php-fusion to Drupal. There's really nothing wrong with php-fusion, there's just some other features that I'd like to have on the site that Drupal supports natively. I'm also experimenting with Drupal as an internal network site. Along with that I'm going to be looking into creating custom themes for both sites. This will hopefully get me back into some decent graphic design routine which has been sorely missed in my life. That reminds me, I'll be spending the weekend in Vermont, I think I'm just going to pack a sketchbook and a few pencils (probably a box full). I don't know what kind of time I'll have to dedicate to drawing but hopefully I'll get a couple hours in.
In regard to the seemingly failed podcast over at Nervous Reflex, I'm not giving up! I've purchased a headset with a microphone. Yeah it was Cheap as hell but it seems to work well. I've been working on a Solid format fur the show, blocking out topics to time.

So recently it was suggested to are that I start blogging again. the point being that I may need away to dump some frustration out in to the wild.

Crap! I just lost a whole lot of text, damn pocket pc!

Anyway I was ever so eloquently explaining that I quit smoking only to succumb to the evil vice once again. the most unfortunate part of starting back up again is not that it was the wrong choice but that it really hurt and angered my fiance. You see I kept it secret, knowing full well that most things people hide are exactly the things the others will readily discover. Now I have to start all over again, another hard fought battle between myself and a ridiculously addictive drug.

I have some news for anyone who reads this craplog. First, I'm getting married, sometime... I asked my girlfriend of two and a half years to get hitched and she agreed. The reason why? That may not have been the best decision she ever made but only time will tell though it may be the best decision I ever made. Secondly or rather nextly... finally (maybe), I have launched the Nervous Reflex podcast... the podcast is going to deal with topics from the science and tech front as well as gaming news I see fit to yap about. The first episode is already up at the site and tomorrow I'll be havin' me some of St. Pat's private stock and pumping out an overdue number two... podcast not an original number two that would be kinda disturbing.

I've since discovered that Sirius satellite radio happens to have channels that I'd be much more inclined to listen to. Jam On 17 is a remarkable station that happens to cater to the likes of me. Anyway I'm no longer interested in things satellite, I'm making do with more down to Earth type things. I picked up a little mp3 player after christmas and have since been downloading all manner of podcasts and listening to them at work. I must be getting old, realizing that you'd rather listen to the geek equivalent of AM talk radio gives me chills... so I put a few albums on for good measure.

Original post follows....

A while ago now I was at a party at a friends house. One of the people I met happened to have this XM device with him, we checked the score of the Red Sox game with it. Anyway we were talking about it and he mentioned that there was a 30-day trial on-line. So today I checked the XM site and discovered that the 30-day trial was only available if you had recently purchased a Dell... crap. There is however a 3-day free trial and I signed up for that. Which is handy because now when the trial is up it'll be time to try one of my Homestyle Dill Pickles. I'm not too impressed with the internet service they're letting me try, the player kept buffering every song... sometimes twice a song, on cable! I was still impressed by the device that guy had, it had news, sports, stocks... all available right there at the touch of your fingers. Now I've seen this peice of digital wizardry for sale at around $300, way out of affordability reach. But I did see some other one for $50, I'm wondering if it can display the news too, because then I'd be all set.
